“I don’t think classical music belongs to just one category of people, either. It’s part of a musical heritage that we should all be able to share in”

The Franco-Algerian conductor created the Orchestre Symphonique Divertimento ( gathering 70 musicians from Paris and its suburbs). Zahia Ziouani explores the intercultural dialogue repertoire. In this interview, she points out “the orchestra’s repertoire is not just European; on the contrary, it can be an opportunity to forge connections with other cultures”. For her, musique and culture are an invitation to happiness for all and a key resource to foster children’s open mindedness. “A child who has not come into contact with culture will not have experienced that kind of reflection, that desire to discover even more and explore even further. “, as she says.
