To discover Mozart
An 18th-century Austrian composer, Mozart revealed an exceptional talent for music at a very early age. He was a child prodigy and played the piano in courts all over Europe beginning at the age of six. The composer touched on practically all the genres, from symphonies and pieces for the pianoforte and concertos to operas as diverse asThe Clemency of Titus and The Magic Flute.
The album Mozart, released in 2011, was recorded with the Bavarian Radio Orchestra. In addition to the Concerto in F Major and "Ch'io mi scordi di te," sung by German soprano Mojca Erdmann, the album includes the Concerto in A Major: Adagio which, for Grimaud, represents the best movement the Austrian composer ever wrote as well as the most representative, in her opinion, of the "real" Mozart.
In this interview, Grimaud describes the origins of this album, comments on the selection of pieces and speaks about her love for Mozart.
