Une idée pour découvrir Les Contes d'Hoffmann

Sitting in a cabaret waiting for his girlfriend Stella, Hoffman becomes drunk and begins reminiscing about the three loves of his life: Olympia, the doll; Giulietta, the courtesan; and Antonia, the singer. An entire chapter of the film is dedicated to each of the three women, and each is associated with a dominant color with strong symbolic value: yellow for Olympia, red for Giulietta and blue for Antonia.

Ballets and singing alternate in this opera film which remains very faithful to Offenbach's work. This short excerpt gives us an idea of the film's dreamlike mood and sumptuous decor.
