Hélène Grimaud : “With Brahms, you often get that feeling of something on a grand scale”

September 17, 2013

Hélène Grimaud’s new album, Brahms, released in September on Deutsche Grammophon, takes the French pianist back to one of her favorite repertoires : that of the German composer Johannes Brahms.

After recording Robert and Clara Schumann and Brahms on her 2006 album Reflection, Hélène Grimaud brings her vision to Brahms’s First and Second Piano Concertos composed in 1854-58 and 1881 respectively. «Together the works present a single portrait of immense nobility and compassion», the artist explains on her website.
